I'm Erin, and welcome to my blog!
I'm learning to bake at the moment, and this blog is my way of sharing my tips and mistakes as I go.
My love affair with baking probably first starting when I was in uni. I was in a committee and we ran a number of bake sales to raise money. Then when I started full time work after I finished my degree, every now and then I'd bake something for my team, and they were always so excited! I've also loved clipping recipes out of newspapers, magazines, etc and saved from internet sites. When I started full time work as an accountant, I started postgrad studies part time as well which took up a lot of my time! That went for about a year and a half. When I finished my studies I suddenly had all this free time on my hands that I didn't know what to do with! I also realised I had a drawer overflowing with recipes that I wanted to make. Given I've been accused of talking too much and having a lot to say, the natural step was to write a blog!
I started my blog in January 2013; as I write this it's June 2014. I look back on how I've improved in a year and a half and I'm amazed! Anyone who thinks they can't bake, or can't make food look nice - I say to you, you just need to try! Practice is the key! Whenever I struggle with a concept, I hunt the internet (or call my mum!) until I get it right. Then I share the result with everyone!
Credit where credit's due - I'm a useless photographer. The photos you see in my blog are all taken by my boyfriend Kai. He's also my official taste tester, and is often lucky enough to get the job of cleaning the kitchen after one of my baking disasters. Our lovely and completely misbehaved cat Narla is also my official model - you'll see her pop up in a lot of the photos! I should also give a shout out to my mum - if I have baking disasters or am not sure how to do something she's always free for a phone call!
I always love to hear from a reader - whether it's a question about my baking, a suggestion on what to make next, or just a comment to let me know you're reading!
